WAC Series 2-Axis Fixture Vises

Specifications Breakdown & Analysis

WAC Series 2-Axis Fixture Vises are indispensable, professional-grade clamping solutions engineered to deliver flawless 90-degree miter and T-joints for welders and fabricators. Crafted from high-strength ductile cast iron, these heavy-duty vises are built to survive the harshest shop environments while maintaining rigid, dead-accurate alignment. The series splits into two distinct variants: the standard manual models (WAC22 and WAC34) for reliable, traditional setups, and the premium quick-acting models (WAC35D and WAC45) which feature a time-saving quick-acting button and free magnetic rest blocks to level long stock. With universal premium design elements like spatter-resistant copper-plated spindles, superb three-side weld access, and machined flat outside faces for vertical flipping, the WAC Series eliminates the frustration of shifting joints. This vise is a must-have workshop asset that transforms tedious squaring into an effortless, single-operator task.

Quick Acting Button

The premium variants feature a game-changing Quick-Acting Button on the spindles. Pressing this button disengages the threads, allowing you to slide the clamping jaw instantly in and out for lightning-fast setup changes. Releasing the button re-engages the screw for high-torque tightening. (WAC35D & WAC45 models only)

Machined Outside Faces for Vertical Clamping

The exterior surfaces of the vise are precision-machined to be perfectly flat and square. This unique feature allows fabricators to flip the vise upright on its side, enabling a rigid perpendicular setup that easily handles vertical joint clamping and complex multi-plane fixture assemblies.

Magnetic Rest Blocks

Purchasing the quick-acting WAC35D or WAC45 variants includes two free Magnetic Rest Blocks. These handy magnetic accessories temporarily adhere to any metal surface, serving as instant, height-matched supports to level and stabilize long stock materials extending far beyond the vise jaws.

Stand-Off Compatibility for Structural Profiles

The vise base is designed with dedicated stand-off holes, allowing fabricators to elevate workpieces. This clearance is vital when clamping structural shapes like angle iron or channel steel, ensuring secure, flush jaw contact and making complex frame assembly highly efficient and repeatable.

Secure Base Mounting Slots

Every vise is equipped with integrated mounting slots on the base, ranging from 1.4 to 2 inches (35.6 to 50.8 mm) in length. This allows the vise to be rigidly bolted down to welding tables, drill presses, or milling machines, preventing shifting under load and maintaining dead-accurate fixture alignment.

Spatter-Resistant Copper Spindle

To guarantee smooth, life-long operation in intense fabrication environments, the threaded spindles are entirely copper-plated. This high-quality coating actively prevents hot welding spatter and slag from sticking to the threads, eliminating thread seizing and tedious wire brush cleanup.

Superb 3-Side Weld Joint Access

The open, low-profile 2-axis geometry is engineered to maximize welding accessibility. Fabricators can easily reach all sides of a 90-degree corner joint, allowing for comprehensive tacking and full-penetration welding without having to release, rotate, or reposition the workpieces mid-job.

High-Strength Ductile Cast Iron Construction

Built for rugged environments, the entire vise body is crafted from premium ductile cast iron. This robust material provides exceptional tensile strength, shock absorption, and resistance to cracking under heavy clamping loads or high-heat weld zones, far outperforming standard gray iron castings.

Key Differences & Model Selection Guide

WAC22: The Compact Solution

The WAC22 is the lightest and most economical entry in the series, weighing just 6 lb.

  • Who it's for: Light fabricators, DIY hobbyists, and shops working with small-diameter tubing, angle iron, or flat stock.
  • Key limits: Restricted to miter joints under 2.5 inches and has a clearance height of 1.9 inches.

WAC34: Mid-Size Capacity

The WAC34 offers a substantial 52% increase in miter joint capacity (up to 3.8") and a 35% increase in jaw length (4.2") compared to the WAC22, while only weighing 9.5 lb.

  • Who it's for: Fabricators looking for a significant increase in material capacity without the premium price of a quick-acting spindle.

WAC35D: Premium Efficiency & Speed

The WAC35D shares the exact same physical envelope and working capacities as the WAC34 but introduces professional-grade efficiency enhancements.

  • Quick Acting Button: Pressing this button allows the copper-plated spindle screw to slide freely in and out for instantaneous adjustments. Releasing the button re-engages the thread for final tightening.
  • Free Magnetic Rest Blocks: Includes 2 free magnetic rest blocks designed to support and level long stock extending out of the vise jaws.
  • Value Proposition: At just $24 more than the WAC34, the WAC35D is widely considered the "sweet spot" for professional fabricators due to the massive time savings provided by the quick-acting button.

WAC45: Heavy-Duty Industrial Standard

The WAC45 is a heavy-duty industrial vise weighing 22 lb (more than double the weight of any other model) designed to handle large structural steel members.

  • Massive Capacity: Boasts a 5.0" miter capacity, 5.2" jaw length, and a towering 2.5" jaw height with a wide 4.0" working clearance.
  • Premium Features: Standardized with the Quick Acting Button and 2 Free Magnetic Rest Blocks.
