Why Alpha 28
The heavy
metric table
Alpha 28 is the BuildPro table for structural work. Thick P20 tool-steel plates on a machined tubular frame, with Ø28 mm holes on 100 mm centers — plus a second 100 mm grid offset 50 mm diagonally, so a clamp lands closer to wherever the part actually is.
You fixture on five faces, not one. The four sides carry plates on the same self-locating bushings as the top, so a square, a stop or a clamp mounts vertically off the edge of the table and holds an assembly upright while you weld it.
Every plate is reversible. When a face is spattered or worn, lift it, turn it over and set it back on its bushings — the grid comes back in tolerance without re-calibration. The full build is in the tech specs.
Choose from five sizes, 1.2 × 1.2 m up to 3.0 × 1.5 m, then pick from six legs: three fixed heights, height-adjustable, or either on braked casters. Tabletops are also sold on their own.

Alpha 28 is the metric series: the thickest plate, the most capacity and the only one besides Alpha 5/8 that fixtures on all five faces. The rest run the imperial 5/8" system and share its tooling. Greyed values match Alpha 28.

Construction
What the table is made of
Reversible tool-steel plates on a machined tubular frame. The same build on every size, in one nitrided finish.

Plate
25 mm P20 tool steel
1" (25 ±0.06 mm) low-alloy P20 tool steel, hardened to 58–62 HRC and ground flat to ±0.125 mm over any 600 × 600 mm.

Hole grid
Ø28 mm on 100 mm
28 mm holes on 100 mm centers, plus a second grid offset 50 mm diagonally. Machined to ±0.05 mm, so a clamp lands close to the part wherever it sits.

Five faces
Top and four sides
The four sides carry plates too. Mount a square or a clamp vertically off the edge and hold an assembly upright while you weld it — not just flat on the top.

Reversible
Flip a worn plate
Lift a plate off, turn it over and set it back. The other face becomes the working surface, so a spattered plate is twice the life instead of a replacement.

Frame
Machined tubular frame
A machined tubular steel frame, not a welded plate box. Welded plate-only designs distort and leave high spots at the corners and center; the rigid frame carries the plates instead.

Finish
QPQ nitrided
A QPQ nitrided surface at 58–62 HRC, with a 0.37 coefficient of friction — weld spatter lifts off and the plate resists corrosion and wear.

Bolts to the frame
Each leg carries a top flange that bolts up into the underframe. The frame takes the load, so the plates stay flat and the leg can come off without disturbing the top.

Braked caster
Precision ball bearings on a non-marking nylon polymer wheel, with a dual toe-step brake. Sold on its own as T28-81406-03 when a wheel wears out.

Anchoring pad
Swaps in for a leveling foot and adds a flange with two Ø18 mm holes, so a table on fixed legs can be bolted down to the floor. Sold as T28-81304-01.

28 mm system
Works with the whole 28 mm system
Ø28 mm holes on a 100 mm grid across the top and every side plate. Clamps, squares, stops and rests built for the BuildPro 28 mm system drop straight in — the imperial 5/8" tooling does not fit.

Questions, answered
Straight answers on table height, the leg options, 28 mm tooling, tabletops and pricing.
- How tall is the finished table?
- Leg height plus the 200 mm tabletop. On the 653 mm fixed legs the surface sits at 860 mm (33.9"); on the 503 mm legs, 710 mm (28"); on the 352 mm legs, 560 mm (22"). The height-adjustable legs run 810–1,160 mm (31.9–45.7") and the adjustable caster legs 765–970 mm (30.1–38.2"). Every surface height is in the tech specs.
- Which leg option should I pick?
- Start with how the table has to move. Leveling pads sit the table on the floor and take the full rating; casters trade some capacity for mobility — 3,200 kg instead of 4,000 on the two smaller sizes, 4,800 instead of 6,000 on the three larger ones. Then pick the height. Only the 653 mm fixed leg and the adjustable leg have caster versions; the 503 and 352 mm legs are leveling-pad only, which is why those chips grey out above when casters are selected.
- Does my 5/8" tooling fit an Alpha 28 table?
- No — 28 mm is a separate system. The holes are Ø28 mm on 100 mm centers, so imperial 5/8" clamps, stops and squares do not fit. Use the 28 mm tooling, or one of the Alpha 28 fixturing kits.
- Can I buy the tabletop without legs?
- Yes. All five sizes are sold as a tabletop on its own (part numbers ending in N), for mounting on a positioner, a lift or a frame of your own. Individual replacement plates and a plate mounting kit are also stocked.
- Can I change legs later, or add casters?
- The legs come with the table and are not sold on their own. Pick the leg option when you request the quote. The wear parts are: the caster itself, and an anchoring pad that replaces a leveling foot with a flange so you can bolt the table to the floor.
- How do I get a price?
